Veeam Cloud Connect is an extension to Veeam Backup & Replication which enables you to securely connect to a Veeam Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) like Now Restore, which offer Cloud Backup and Replication (Disaster Recovery) services.

With Now Restore, you simply rent the required resources (e.g. backup space, replica vCPU, RAM, IPs, etc.) and appropriate licences, for a simple, monthly fee. Our service is great for any organisation who would like offsite backups or Disaster Recovery services, without the expertise, investment and maintenance required in deploying your own. We can even offer further Professional Services such as Fully Managed Backup & Disaster Recovery, alongside existing deployment audit, setup & configuration services.

Your data is fully encrypted in flight / during transfer between your network and Now Restore using an industry-standard SSL/TLS tunnel. In the context of Cloud Backups, you have the option to additionally encrypt your backups at rest, with an encryption key (passphrase). Only you, or those with your encryption key, can access the data. Now Restore will never have access to your encryption key - so we are unable to access your data. While we highly encourage customers to encrypt their backups to align to best practices, please be aware that Now Restore are unable to recover your encryption key - or your data - if you lose it. Please keep the key safe!

Now Restore two ways to securely transfer your data: either over the internet, or via a ‘seed’ transfer (great for slow internet speeds or lots of data). The seed transfer process works as follows:

1. Now Restore ship you a Seed Appliance server with enough storage capacity for your data
2. A Now Restore technician will work with you over a remote session to configure the Seed Appliance within your Veeam Backup & Replication environment
3. Your data is copied in an encrypted format to the Seed Appliance, via your local network
4. Now Restore arrange return shipping of the Seed Appliance
5. When the Seed Appliance returns to Now Restore’s datacentre, we copy your data onto our infrastructure and fully erase the data on the Seed Appliance.


The Seed Appliance can be used to bulk transfer your data for both Backup & Replication services.

Veeam Cloud Connect integrates directly within your Veeam Backup & Replication software, in the same way as local resources (e.g. backup repositories, VMware / Hyper-V hosts). When you purchase either backup or replication services from Now Restore, these cloud resources will form part of your existing Backup Infrastructure within Veeam. Safely backup, restore and replicate your infrastructure from the familiar, powerful Veeam Backup & Replication console.

No problem. Now Restore's Professional Services Team can fully install and configure Veeam for you, and get your backups flowing into the Now Restore Cloud. Our team are experts in the Veeam software, so we can configure this aligned to your company requirements and industry best practices for data retention, security and performance alike.

Not at all. Now Restore always recommend customers to have both on-site storage (such as our Now Restore Vault), and Cloud-based storage. This aligns to industry best practices, such as the 3-2-1 rule, and improves performance, since our Vault can connect at LAN speed, rather than pulling data from the internet.

However, on-site storage doesn't have to be expensive. Now Restore's Vault is a cost-effective storage mechanism, which integrates directly with Now Restore Cloud - keeping two copies of your backups. Our Vault also aligns to the 3-2-1 rule: keeping your data in two geographic locations, a key principle in safeguarding your data. For organisations wishing to remove upfront costs, Now Restore can offer both Cloud Backups and our Vault bundled into a single monthly fee - just contact us for more information. While we recommend both storage types, if you don't want have any storage on-site at all, you can still use the Now Restore platform for Cloud Backups only.
